Course Description

Governments' Ministry of Health and NGOs plan, develop, strengthen, expand platforms and implement purposive projects and health systems at various levels to ensure that their health interventions and delivery systems benefit the populations.

This 5-Days affordable course is designed for professionals who work in the health sector as policy makers, project officers and managers of health programs and projects whether they have a medical background or not. This is not a medical or clinical course but rather it is for anyone interested in supporting health programs and projects. The interactive and participatory workshop, designed and conducted by highly qualified and experienced health program managers, will help participants identify areas where they can excel, and where they have opportunities for growth in their life-long learning process.

Course Objectives

*At the end of the course, participants will be able to:u*nderstand the principles and main functions of project management as applied to the health sector and acquire appropriate knowledge and skills to:

  1. Analyse national and local health systems;

  2. Organise, plan and manage health-care services;

  3. Conduct monitoring and evaluating of health-care services;

  4. Design and conduct health systems research.

  • Strategies, frameworks and tools developed by WHO, UN agencies and international partners for improving and managing health projects including MCH, RH, ASRH, HIV prevention, Nutrition, etc.;

  • Rights-based approach and gender programming;

  • Sociocultural determinants of health;

  • Theory of Change (TOC) as applied to health programs;

  • Conducting situation and stakeholders analysis;

  • Organizing and planning health-care services;

  • Monitoring, evaluation and supervision of health-care services;

  • Operations and health systems research;

  • Application of WHO Strategic Approach for improving the quality of health services;

  • Improving the quality of health-care services in resource-poor settings.
