Course Description

This capacity building training workshop is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mid to senior level program/project managers working in government ministries/departments, civil society organizations and the donor community including UN agencies and bilateral aid agencies to understand the intricacy of RBM and the Monitoring & Evaluation system.

The course begins with an overview of Project Cycle Management (PCM). At the beginning of a project planning cycle, it is important to determine what results are needed to be achieved, by when, and what needs to be done now, in order to successfully achieve set goals and objectives. Results should be based on a Theory of Change (TOC) that will guide the different phases of project implementation. The course also pays special attention to the monitoring system to be set up during the implementation phase and initiating corrective actions. Course contents will include the TOC used for planning program/project interventions, and the use of the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) as a tool to set the hierarchy of results-chain from inputs to activities, outputs, and outcomes. Examples will be taken from existing country programs and projects of the participants.
